A wonderful year for Rheinwood Pastoral Company was capped off when unbeaten three year-old Havatryst, made it three wins in as many starts when running down Posh Chic to win at Randwick on Boxing Day.
The Barry Baldwin trained Havatryst landed a big betting plunge for his supporters and has now won more than $100,000 in prizemoney offering a great return on his modest $17,000 purchase price.
Bred and offered for sale by Rheinwood Pastoral, Havatryst is a three year-old son of exciting young sire Foreplay from the Groom Dancer (USA) mare Conjugality.
After the race, Baldwin was optimistic about the future for Havatryst, saying he believes that this trip to Randwick ‘could make him.’
Havatryst will now be aimed at the big races in Queensland during their winter carnival, so looms as another potential stakes-winner for the now Woodside Park based Foreplay, who has been a revelation this season.
The fertility troubled son of Danehill (USA) is up running second on the leading Australian Second Season Sires List by earnings, his 16 winners of nearly $900,000 in prizemoney including three stakes-winners, all at Group level in Decision Time, Playcidium Mint and That’s Not It.
Havatryst heads an exciting crop of Rheinwood bred/raised 3-yr olds, including Howdiddydoit, Gilded Spur and Mac Chois, all headed for autumn campaigns in Sydney 2011 and will be ones to watch.
Conjugality, the dam of Havatryst, visited Darley stallion Time Thief this season, a ¾ brother to Foreplay and is in foal.
Rheinwood will present a draft of seven yearlings at Magic Millions next month highlighted by a full brother to Group I winner Albert the Fat, who was sold by Rheinwood at the same sale in 2006 for $40,000.
Consigned as Lot 646, the Magic Albert colt is the sixth foal for Alemar, whose Magic Albert colt fetched $100,000 when bought by Anthony Cummings at the same sale in 2010. by Tara Madgwick
