As seen in TTR Australia
Ray & Marilyn Willis' Rheinwood Pastoral have established an excellent reputation as producers of quality performers - in recent years sending through the ring the likes of the G3 San Domenico S. winner Libertad (Russian Revolution), the Listed Aquanita S. winner Upper Limits (Exosphere) and the very promising, in-form (three smart wins in a row) Midnight Devil (Hellbent).
The Rheinwood team invite buyers to inspect their exciting draft for the 2024 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.
Lot 60: Prague x Love A Rose (Magic Albert) (bay colt)
A lovely bay, he hails from the second crop of a well credentialled dual Group 3 winning Redoute's Choice stallion whose yearlings are proving extremely popular - at this year's sales selling for up to $375,000 with an average of over $97,000.
He is out of a proven broodmare - a speedy Magic Albert mare who won her second start at two and in town at three. Her first two foals have both been in the money this season with her three-year-old daughter Outback Angel showing nice promise winning twice in her first seven starts.
Love A Rose is one of the five winners (from six to race) for the dual city winner Millie Rose (Testa Rossa) - a mare who showed durability; a trait she has passed on with her stakes placed son Super Winner (Kaphero) winning 14 races.
Also dam of the city winners Mistrust (Trusting) and Heywood (Super One), Millie Rose is a granddaughter of the two times stakes winner Winter's Dance (Bogan Road) from an historic local family - one which has as its ancestress the outstanding filly Frances Tressady (Tressady {GB}).
This colt is bred along proven lines - the Redoute's Choice/Magic Albert cross producing 15 winners from the 18 colts bred that way whilst the Redoute's Choice/Testa Rossa cross produced last spring's G2 Sandown Guineas winner Serasana (Snitzel).
Lot 60: Prague x Love A Rose (Magic Albert) (bay colt)
Lot 124: Portland Sky x Orchid Beach (Hinchinbrook) (brown filly)
A good sized, scopey filly, she is one of the first by her G1 Oakleigh Plate (the stallion making race taken out by the likes of Fastnet Rock, Snitzel and Starspangledbanner) winning sire - a particularly handsome son of Deep Field - to go through the ring.
She is a three-quarter sister to the smart Hong Kong galloper Youthful Deal (Deep Field) - a four time winning $200,000 Magic Millions graduate and a half-sister to the promising three-year-old Cool Shalaa (Shalaa {Ire}) - a $100,000 Inglis Classic buy who has looked good winning two of her first four starts.
Orchid Beach is a half-sister to seven winners including the Listed winner Insistence (Black Hawk {GB}) from a prolific black-type family whose members include the very exciting two-year-old Barbie's Sister (Spirit Of Boom) who so easily won the Listed Calaway Gal S. at just her second outing.
Also able to boast amongst her relations the stakes winners She's Purring (Flying Spur), Ringside Lady (NZ) (Clay Hero), Global Warming (Agnes World {USA}), Pure Purrfection (General Nediym), Outback Barbie (Spirit Of Boom) and Mind Your Head (Mujahid {USA}), this filly is member of the great Chelandry (GB) (Goldfinch {GB}) family.
Portland Sky's sire Deep Field has done a great job with Fastnet Rock line mares with three stakes winners and another three stakes performed horses amongst the 34 winners. And what a great job Hinchinbrook is already doing as a broodmare sire with six stakes winners in his first 67 winners - including last week's Hong Kong Group 1 winner Invincible Sage (Thronum).
Lot 124: Portland Sky x Orchid Beach (Hinchinbrook) (brown filly)
Lot 151: North Pacific x Rakitno (by Not A Single Doubt) (bay filly)
With Brazen Beau's first son to stud - Tassort - doing so well - there are high hopes for North Pacific, the G3 Up And Coming S. winner whose first yearlings have sold for up to $420,000 with an average close to $82,000.
Rakitno's first two foals by Kermadec (NZ) and Castelvecchio sold for $80,000 and $70,000 at the Inglis Classic and it won't be long until she gets her winner with her sire Not A Single Doubt doing so well as a broodmare sire with 20 stakes winners already.
A three times metropolitan placed two times winner, Rakitno is a half-sister to the stakes placed metropolitan winning juvenile Zellindi (Bel Esprit) out of the city winner Emilydelago (Encosta de Lago), a half-sister to the G3 Aurie's Star winner Shanghai Warrior (Elvstroem).
This filly's pedigree brings together the relations Try My Best (USA) and Redoute's Choice - a combination which has produced 77 stakes winners, 17 of whom are Group 1 winners including Incentivize (Shamus Award), Giga Kick (Scissor Kick) and Joliestar (Zoustar).
And seven of the ten Brazen Beau runners out of daughters of Redoute's Choice stallions are winners including the Group 3 sprinter Brazen Style. Also of great interest is the Brazen Beau/Encosta de Lago cross which boasts a 74.1 per cent strike rate... noting that Brazen Beau hails from (as is his dam sire Snaadee {USA}) the same family as Encosta de Lago.
Lot 151: North Pacific x Rakitno (by Not A Single Doubt) (bay filly)
Lot 182: Prague x Seritza (Sebring) (brown filly)
Another nice member of Prague's second crop, she is out of the good race mare Seritza who did a good job winning two sprinting races - also finishing in the placings on nine occasions, twice in town.
The dam of two winners and a lightly raced place-getter amongst her first four runners, Seritza is one of the eight winners produced by the two times winner Starlevie (Fasliyev {USA}), a half-sister to the stakes placed five times winning sprinter Miss Tuppence (Capitalist).
This is a strong black-type family, its members including the Group winners General Beau (Brazen Beau), Red Colossus (Testa Rossa), Nediym's Glow (General Nediym) and Kinglike (Exceed And Excel).
This filly is bred on the same successful Redoute's Choice/Sebring cross as last year's G1 Caulfield Guineas hero Griff (Trapeze Artist) and it is worth noting how well Sebring is faring as a broodmare sire with eight stakes performers this season alone.
She boasts an interesting pedigree, her sire bred on the same Danehill (USA)/Kaoru Star cross as Sebring.
Lot 182: Prague x Seritza (Sebring) (brown filly)
Lot 190: Anders x She Has Arrived (Domesday) (chestnut filly)
With Not A Single Doubt's son Extreme Choice doing so well at stud, his other boys are are proving popular and this flashy filly is a member of the second crop of his G3 San Domenico S. winning son Anders.
His first crop daughters have sold for up to $330,000 with his first yearlings averaging over $85,000 - ending up in such good hands as Waterhouse & Bott, Star Thoroughbreds, Michael Freedman, Paul Moroney, Bjorn Baker, McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Aquis Farm and DGR Thoroughbred Services.
With Anders due to have 121 two-year-olds representing him from the spring, now is the time to be part of his story!
This filly is bred on the same Redoute's Choice/Domesday (noting that those two stallions hail from the same prolific Best In Show {USA} (Traffic Judge {USA}) family as the multiple Group 1 winner Trapeze Artist (Snitzel) and the classy Hong Kong galloper Packing Award (Shamus Award).
Recent Group 3 winner Benedetta (Hellbent) is another classy performer out of a Domesday mare and he certainly has the pedigree to make his mark as a broodmare sire.
Already the dam of two multiple winners, She Has Arrived is a half-sister to the Listed winner Best Yet To Come (Econsul) out of the stakes placed Simply The Best (NZ) (Kingdom Bay {NZ}), half-sister to the Listed Wanganui Guineas winner Shaquille (NZ) (Blazing Keel)
Lot 190: Anders x She Has Arrived (Domesday) (chestnut filly)
Lot 230: Portland Sky x Talented Miss (Al Maher) (brown colt)
Another member of the debut crop of Deep Field's G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Portland Sky - one of his season's best three-year-olds - he is out of the consistent two times winner Talented Miss (Al Maher) who is showing good promise as a broodmare.
Her first two to race are winners and her third - Midnight Dynamite (Pierata) made a most encouraging debut in Muswellbrook's Star Kingdom feature last Friday.
Talented Miss is a full sister to the stakes placed Acouplamas (Al Maher) - dam of the G1 ATC Derby winning stallion Quick Thinker.
With three of the four Deep Field runners out of Al Maher mares being winners including the smart Deep Romance, this fellow is bred along proven lines and what a terrific family his is - his relations including the G1 VRC Derby winning high-class stallion Blackfriars, the G1 South Australian Oaks winner Larrocha (Danehill {USA}) and the Group 3 mare Rocha Clock (Pierro) who is bound to prove popular when she goes through the ring at this weeks Chairman's Sale.
Lot 230: Portland Sky x Talented Miss (Al Maher) (brown colt)
Lot 440: Captivant x Happy Pilgrim (Congrats {USA}) (chestnut filly)
The Written Tycoon sire line just keeps kicking goals and with his grandson Captivant recording the second fast ever win in the G1 Champagne S., it looks set to flourish further.
Joining the likes of Todman, Vain, Luskin Star and Pierro as winners of that big juvenile contest, Captivant has his first foals being sold at this sale and this filly is a lovely example of what he is producing.
Her dam is the three times winner Happy Pilgrim (Congrats {USA}) whose first foal First Crusade (Nicconi) is a five times winner. Her second and third foals are both lightly raced placegetters close to wins whilst her fourth - the $115,000 Classic graduate Private Harry (Harry Angel {Ire}) looks pretty exciting; that two-year-old impressive easily winning two recent trials.
So happy are connections of that horse that they came back this year, buying Happy Pilgrim's Anders yearling colt for $100,000 at the Classic sale.
This is a real running family, Happy Pilgrim being one of the 11 winners produced by the two times winner Pilgrim (Danehill {USA}) whose two times Group 1 placed grandson Don Corleone (Extreme Choice) has just been announced as Eureka Stud's new stallion. Other relations include the G1 Ranvet S. winner Arkady (Myocard {NZ}).
