Where the Winners Are

Producing winners is the name of the game and a winning double at Moonee Valley last Friday night for horses sold as yearlings by Rheinwood Pastoral highlights the success of this burgeoning Southern Highlands nursery.


The Peter Moody trained three year-old Zenon (3f Super Saver (USA) x Countess Christie) broke her maiden with a tenacious win in the opening event and later in the program it was the turn of the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Laqha (3f Stratum x Sky Risks (Fr), who posted her third win from nine starts.


Zenon was a $105,000 Inglis Premier purchase and Laqha was a $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase, both Rheinwood sold fillies shaping as though more wins are in store.


Situated at Mittagong on 142 undulating acres, Rheinwood Pastoral is owned and run by Ray and Marilyn Willis, who will present an outstanding draft of 10 youngsters at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Lot 6 Colt Your Song x Hidden Spirit by Casino Prince


From the first crop of an exciting young Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock and is first foal of a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Unchain My Heart. Bred and sold by Rheinwood, Unchain My Heart won nearly $600,000 in prize money.


Lot 194 Colt Magic Albert x Quite Astute, by Danske


Three-quarter brother-in-blood to Magic Albert’s Group I NZ Two Thousand Guineas winner Magic Cape. Rheinwood Pastoral sold Magic Albert’s Group I winner Albert the Fat and this colt is very similar.


Lot 206 Colt All American x Reverenza, by Commands


From stakes-placed Reverenza, who has had three foals to race all winners and two of them, Lion of Africa and Urban Knight have won again since the catalogue went to print.

Lot 537 Colt Delago Deluxe x Faith in My, by Savabeel

From the first crop of a young sire that made a big impact at Magic Millions and is first foal of a winning daughter of Group III placed With My.

A unique feature of the draft are the only two yearlings in the entire catalogue by promising young New Zealand based sire Niagara, a Group II winning son of champion sire Encosta de Lago from the family of Redoute’s Choice.

Both youngsters are offered on behalf of Lime Country Thoroughbreds, who stand Niagara in New Zealand, his yearlings selling for up to $85,000 at the recent NZB Yearling Sale Series.
